BUY DVDs OVERSEAS

I have successfully purchased DVDs overseas at the following:

Ebay Australia (AU) (but learn how to use ebay properly first)

Amazon.com (US)

DVDPlanet (US) (big range and good prices)

DDDHouse (HK) (mainly Chines films. Very cheap. Quality varies)

Also look at Video Dogs (AU) in Carlton which rents and sells classics and cult DVDs.

The Criterion Collection produces highest quality DVDs of the classic movies. Expensive but highly recommended. Can be purchased at Video Dogs or DVDPlanet.

Why buy overseas? Because it is usually cheaper and there is no GST. You will need a multi-region DVD player. Australia is region 4 and there are about 7,000 titles released. The rest of the world has maybe 30,000 titles. Thus the choice is far greater.

TIP - Always get a quote for postage, packing, handling and insurance. Purchases under $200 AUD will probably not have Customs duties and GST imposed.

Caveat emptor: buy at your own risk, not mine.

DVD Price Search is a good site to search best prices.

XE.com is good for currency exchange.

And the Internet Movie DataBase (IMDB) has everything about every film ever made.
